Large Size Silver Certificates

Silver Certificates comprise some of the most beautiful notes that the Bureau of Printing and Engraving has produced. The designs were extensive in their scope. Silver Certificates were backed by their value in silver dollars held in the vaults of the US Treasury. These notes were authorized by two Acts of Congress: the Acts of February 28, 1878 and August 4, 1886, which allowed the release of five different series.
