1973-1984 500 Francs from France, Banque Centrale. Pk 12c and serial number L.13 06725. Graded 67 Premium Paper Quality Superb Gem New by PCGS. And this is a population of one with only one graded finer according to PMG Population Report. This near perfect note combine all the attributes of a Superb Gem quality note. Perfect margins, strong color, bright white fresh paper and superb embossing creating lovely natural paper waves. Title underneath top margin: Banque centrale du Mali. Serial Number displaying on the front of the note with prefix: K. Brown and multicolored. Soldier at left, tractors at right. Men and camels on back. Watermark of a man's head.

Until 1962, Mali used the West African CFA franc. The Malian franc was introduced that year at par with the CFA franc but later declined in value relative to it. In 1984, Mali readopted the CFA franc, with 2 Malian francs = 1 CFA franc. Banknotes dated 22 SEPTEMBRE 1960 were issued by the Banque de la République du Mali (Bank of the Republic of Mali) in 1962 in denominations of 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 francs. A second issue with new designs were issued in 1967 in the same denominations as the previous series. Following Modibo Keita’s overthrow on 19 November 1968, the Banque Centrale du Mali (Central Bank of Mali) was established, and took over note production with the 1971 introduction of a third series of 100, 500, 1000, 5000 and 10,000 francs notes.

Note- Due to the new and burgeoning world currency market, PCGS has not yet made public a world currency population report. PCGS is slated to publish a population database in the coming months. Until that time, Trusted Traditions World has used the PMG population reports solely as a guide to help evaluate the rarity of all of our notes. PMG grades a higher volume of world paper money submissions, so we feel this is a very accurate evaluation of rarity and scarcity.
